My copy of Terence Conran’s new book Conran On Colour has arrived.

For the cover, Jonathan Christie has judiciously cropped my photograph of a multicoloured staircase that leads to a child’s sleeping platform. It requires a special eye to see how significant crops of photographs can solve your design requirements.

The whole Maida Vale apartment enjoyed a bucket load of Andy Martin’s magic architect dust to bring it into the 21st century. There are many highlights including an en-suite bathroom with the wow factor.

I was originally commissioned by Grand Designs Magazine to shoot for a feature on the apartment. All the rooms were covered for a 7 page spread.

We spent a lovely sunny day in the property. It has a really relaxing atmosphere, and huge communal gardens accessed from the lounge, which was originally two bedrooms, if I recall correctly.

Great space planning, front to back top to bottom. Wouldn’t mind living there myself!
