Grim Up North

We spent a few days in the Peak District.

The vistas are magnificent across the Hope Valley, the cement plant just keeps it real! The flora and geology are great too and if that little lot doesn’t take your breath away the near vertical walk up Win Hill will.

We managed to avoid most of the rain, although threatening skies were a constant.

The following day, when the ominous clouds had cleared we rented bikes and headed north for a ride around the Derwent and Howden Reservoirs. It’s an exhausting but great afternoon out and thankfully downhill for the last mile all the way home.

The route takes you past Howden Dam where the RAF practiced Operation Chastise in their Avro Lancasters.

No Lancasters, but the sun did make a welcome appearance.

If you get a chance to go, take it. You won’t regret it.
